| Bio: | I am a man living in Washington DC with my boyfriend and our cat (who loves honey ham). I work full time and also take photographs part time. I sell my photo services and prints etc through my website, but technically (ask the IRS) it's a hobby since I nowhere near make enough to cover my expenses. I tend to focus on documentary-style photography since I love to go to events and cover them, but I'm doing some more daily streetscape type stuff now that I'm trying to post to my photo journal (Washington Photo Journal) at least once a weekday. (I also edit and post photographs from a few other local photographers.)
I get torn between completely ignoring LJ or the Internet in general and then coming back and doing more on it from time-to-time. I guess while I love the ease the Internet provides for people to communicate, I lament how poor our written communication has become and how our face-to-face socializing has suffered. So I get wishy-washy on the web. But I've had a presence on here as Bearnaked Joe now for 10 years, including my currently-neglected ("I'll post when I am inspired") personal site/blog at www.bearnakedjoe.com and www.gaycamping.org.
So far my biggest claim to fame is having the first site on the web for gay camping, as well as a few photographs - including Jeff Gannon at an Iraq war rally (He's famous for his soft balls), which stirred up some buzz a few years ago in liberal circles.
I'm also torn between wanting to take pictures of hot men - which I enjoy and which seem to get the most hits in my postings - and legitimate news and lifestyle photography, which I really love. Do I trade legitimacy for sexuality? Do I have to? Can't I have both? |
